Professional Practice for Paramedics

This course explores the interpersonal, ethical, and legal dimensions of paramedic practice. Students examine the psychological and emotional factors that influence paramedic-patient interactions, learning to communicate empathetically, manage stress, and navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and emotional intelligence. Students will also explore professionalism and ethics in the workplace from a values-driven lens and understand the impact of their performance on the broader emergency response system.  In parallel, the course provides a comprehensive overview of the legal and ethical frameworks governing emergency medical services, including consent, capacity, negligence, confidentiality, and documentation.
