This second-level mathematics course for mechanical technology programs begins with an applied review of unit conversions and vectors. Students apply geometric relationships to analyze two- and three-dimensional shapes and determine dimensions, perimeters, areas, and volumes. They study analytic geometry, including graphs and equations of linear functions and conic sections, and develop algebraic skills such as factoring, simplifying expressions, and solving algebraic fractions. The course also covers rational exponents, radicals, and the graphing and analysis of quadratic, exponential, and logarithmic functions, along with using trigonometric identities to simplify expressions and solve equations.
