Early Learning Environments

Get immersed into childcare settings and learn through real-world experiences with Early Childhood Education. Apply your knowledge of child development and play-based learning through active field placements in diverse settings, including EarlyON centres, kindergarten classrooms, and inclusive childcare programs.

Community Agency Placements

Gain real-world experience with over 400 hours of active field placements with your social service program. You will step directly into community-based environments—such as youth facilities, treatment centres, and social service agencies to apply anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practices with real clients.

Indigenous Community Practice

Learn to provide effective, culturally safe interventions from a holistic Indigenous lens. Through specialized fieldwork, you will work directly with Indigenous and non-Indigenous populations to foster balance and address social and cultural issues within the community.

Applied Counselling Scenarios

To support your learning, you will engage in active role-play, mock client assessments, and crisis intervention simulations to safely build your confidence in handling complex social problems, addictions, and mental health challenges.

A Growing Sector with Increasing Wages

Ontario is making investments to support employment and services in community care and early years education. To support the shortage of Early Childhood Educators, the province’s official Child Care Workforce Strategy raised the starting wage in 2024 for Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) by 19.3% to $23.86/hour. With guaranteed $1/hour annual increases expanding through 2026, the starting wage is now set at $25.86/hour — allowing you to confidently start the path to a secure and respected profession.
